N.I.C.U.

- Breath without oxygen

- Take all feeding by mouth

- Maintain a steady body temperature

- Gaining weight by feeding

- Not have any apnea spells (pauses in breathing) causing slow heart rate (bradycardia) or change in color.

 

 

What is the N.I.C.U.?

My sister spent 18 days in the N.I.C.U. in La Crosse, Wisconsin. My dad, my mom and I went up everyday to see her until she came home. At first I wanted to be a veterinarian but with my sister in the N.I.C.U. it changed my mind very fast.

The N.I.C.U. is a place in hospitals that treats babies born early or have troubles in the first few days and if you have twin, triplets, ect. They stay until they pass all test.
